South India Biblical Seminary is affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College (University) and accredited by Asia Theological Association.

Senate of Serampore College (University) (SSC)

Since 1976, SIBS is affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College (University) for B.Th. program and from 2018 for Bachelor of Divinity (BD) and other extension studies.

Serampore College was founded by William Carey, Joshua Marshman and William Ward in 1818, incorporated by Royal Charter, granted in 1827, by the Danish King, Frederick VI and enlarged by the Serampore College Act of 1918 by the Government of Bengal.

SSC function both as a teaching college and as a theological university. According to the Charter and Statutes of the College, the Council is vested with all powers, including that of management of the College. The Council makes bye-laws for governing College administration. As Governing Body of the College, it functions through two complementary but distinct forms: College as an academic institution, and College as a university. As an academic institution, the College has two different departments – Arts, Science and Commerce (ASC) Department and Theology Department. The ASC Department is affiliated to University of Calcutta. The College Faculty as per the provisions of the Serampore College Act administers the College, as an educational institution.

The other form of the College is the University form, which is administered by a widely representative body, Senate, as per the provisions of the Serampore College Act.

SSC is an ecumenical-Protestant body that includes, the Orthodox, Evangelicals, Reformed, Episcopalians, Pentecostals and other Independent ecclesial confessions. Currently there are 65 colleges/seminaries (including SIBS) that are affiliated to the SSC in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Asia Theological Association (ATA)

Since 1995, SIBS is accredited by ATA for B.Th. and M.Div. programs.

The ATA is a body of theological institutions, committed to evangelical faith and scholarship, networking together to serve Church in equipping the people of God for the mission of the Lord Jesus. It is a network of over 380 theological institutions from 32 nations, making it one of the largest theological accreditation councils in Asia.
